Hello all,

It is my first post :)

I want your thoughts on this:
Do you feel that because your parents may have supported you when you were younger, that you "owe" it to them to support them now?

(Pay the bills they run up etc, just because they did it for you when you were younger and unable to work)

Thanks.

Well if you can afford it then nothing wrong with helping them out.

But you are under no obligation to. They are required by law to support you until you are 18. They are the ones who had a child and they are the ones who have to take responsibility to raise that child.

A child does not have that type of obligation to his/her parents.

Though you have family obligations and should help out if you can, though don't cause yourself ruin trying to help.

I think if you can help out your parents you should. After all they took care of you when you were young. Look at all the great things they have done for you.

Most of us have parents that have set aside something to get them thru, but sometimes health or other problems eat up their savings.

Another thing is that as parents age they need other types of help. Even if its just a trip to the doctor or the grocery store you should be willing to help them out if you can. You can hope that you will set an example and your kids will help you out when you get old.

In my opinion we have to support my parents. If we are able to do then they must do it as a responsibility.
